Mar. 18th, 2001 11:32 pmwhen i got home from the concert, i realized i still had tony's crew pass in my pocket, so i called fran to see if she could swing by and pick it up before heading up for the seattle concert. i must have been really tired, because apparently she called back at 9 and 10am saturday morning. usually the phone wakes me up, i'm not sure what the deal was. the result was, however, that she had to leave for seattle without getting the crew pass. so i'll find out from her later if tony's upset about it, i guess.
woke up in time for lunch saturday, and even found tricia and jon in the cafeteria. however, i didn't find anything edible, so i had a bowl of cornflakes. and then i went back to bed.
i was ready a little before jason was supposed to get here, and got sidetracked by cristina. as in, she was there for once, so i went to talk to her. and when i checked the door after a few minutes, jason was standing outside, about to call me on his cell phone. :)
dinner was good, we weren't too late. i liked the dinner conversation; i didn't really know much about jason's or steve's life, so hearing all the interesting stories was good. i went back to jason's house afterwards, in case steve showed up again. killed time for a while until we realized it was 1am and steve had probably (at least if he knew what was good for him. :) ) crashed. then we watched mallrats, most of 10 things i hate about you, and ghostbusters. and then it was 7am. and i hadn't slept. d'oh.
got home by 7.30 and turned on the shower. by the time i was actually ready to get in it, the water was hot. score! :) and then i slept. i managed to get about 7 hours of sleep before i had to get ready to go to my grandparents' for dinner. john, my uncle, was picking me up. only unlike *everyone* else in my family, he gets places 15 minutes early, instead of up to 15 minutes late. so i didn't have time to brush my teeth before i left. he still had to wait for i don't know how long before i noticed him and finally got ready.
i think i'm not incredibly fond of the kimmels. they're nice people, but in the conversation.... they're open minded in their opinions and yet manage to hold to a surprising number of stereotypes. it made me edgy. that and my grandpa's a retired minister so they talked about religion the whole time. and a lot of it was about being 'charismatic' (pentecostal and baptist churches are charismatic, for example). and when i mentioned that i'd done a research paper on gypsies to my grandma, she expressed interest and recounted her experiences with gypsies: "we drove past this run-down place, and paul [my grandfather] said, 'that looks like a gypsy house!' occasionally, i treat one of them in the hospital, and they all come at the same time, so the waiting room is full of them.'
...
::sigh::
that and when we were about to leave, they were discussing john's dimples, and who he got them from - neither of his parents have dimples. and my grandmother says, 'are you sure it's not because he's, you know... chubby?'
now that's tact for you. 'i'm used to it,' he said when i made some sarcastic comment as we left.
that rubbed some of the shiny off my weekend, but not enough to make me actively unhappy. just kind of eh.
i'm glad othello went so well finally. :)
i d/led a bunch of black tape for a blue girl. i'm not sure why i didn't do that before, cause it's kinda neat.
i got thinner. i think i lost about 10 lbs from mono, and some of it was actually from places that needed to lose stuff. as shown by the fact that my blue jeans aren't quite as tight around the thighs any more. i like it when my clothing fits. :)
