May. 31st, 2001 04:17 pmokay, okay, maybe i should post.
i went fabricking today. muchly fun. got some gold/bronzeish dupioni silk to be the inside of my ghawazee coat, the outside of which is lavender dupioni. mm, pretty. but it turns out that i only need 2 yards. as opposed to the 7 i have of the lavender silk. now i need to figure out what else to do with it.
yesterday i went animaling with skriedle. we went to petco and played with the ferrets (they were down to three, from the 9 they had a few weeks ago), and then went to the animal shelter and looked at the cats. there were 7 of them, and they were all wonderful. there was a big grey cat who curled up with one eye visible, staring at us and otherwise not caring. there was a himalaya mix, very furry, who was the only one who meowed. and she only did that a little, when she'd been ignored for too long. the one i liked best was a big orange cat, stripey, with brown eyes. he looked like a tiger eye, the kind of rock. very nice. and he would stick his paws through the cage and smack you around until you petted him, and he would assist you so that the petting became very forceful. it was amusing. there were two tiny little balls of fluff, black and blackgreystripe, 4 week old kittens, i think. they curled up in their box at the back of the cage and blinked at you. it was the cutest thing. i wish i could have held them, but the shelter wasn't allowed cause someone got bitten last week and complained. and there were two 12 week old kittens, dark grey striped and light grey striped. they were nice. very friendly and purring.
and there was a chihuahua. looked like he was scared out of his wits. he was shaking and whining and barking. if you petted him, he'd calm down enough so that he was just shivering and whining. spoiled brat.
on the weekend, we went camping. took separate cars for the first time, sent the guys to set up while we finished packing. we got there about half an hour before the front gate closed. and it didn't rain! i was shocked. usually it's damp and icky the whole weekend. but it rained a little during the night and that was almost it. almost. on Sunday, it was sunny but windy. the wind blew the clouds past really quickly. it blew a storm cloud over us, and started pouring. i decided, since i had all those extra dry clothes, that i needed to dance in the rain. so i did. however, the wind then blew the storm cloud past, before i'd gotten completely soaked. i felt so cheated. and then i had to stand out in the sun for the next hour to dry off. thus my sunburn, from dancing in the rain.
i talked to the weavers a bit, about scotland. mr weaver plays the bagpipes, and played several times during the weekend. they've visited scotland several times. but never glasgow, because the edinburghers told them it was a working class slum. stuck up snobs, that's why i don't like edinburgh. :) i also found out that deborah draper, whose husband was there, is a professional weaver. (and i'm a draper (re: dressmaking style). i'm amused. so i'll have to talk to her when she's in town.
went to school Tuesday. it was an odd day, so i didn't get to talk to people much. i went to lemly's house with cap afterwards, tagged after them while they made prom arrangements and stuff. cap and i tried to stop by and give lalice a ride to yoga since lemly couldn't, but she wasn't home. so i did some bad driving in weird parts of clarendon and 7 corners (i've never driven there before, gimme a break) and went to ...er, what's the name of that place again? the chicken and fries place. cap said they never had flan even though it was on the menu, but i really like flan so i asked anyway, and they had it! i told cap she just needed to take me every time she goes, and they'll have it. and then i took her home, without getting lost, and then i picked my mom up, also without getting lost. i even got there just in time. i was so proud.
hey, look! i'm caught up! must call shauna about spring show tix. i'll be at school Monday, if not tomorrow. i'll be at the picnic on the 18th... it's not a half day or anything weird like that, is it? i hope prom doesn't suck, for all you seniors.
i miss seattle. i think chris had the right idea: seattle's a better place, so just transplant all the friends you can't live without to your new city, and it's all good! now i just have to convince troupe to move out west. :)
