whoo. that was fun. :)
earlier today i had to get up too early for breakfast. joy. i then went back to bed and read for a while. much preferable to doing awake-type things.
i decided i was going to make dinner today, and i did: i made my salisbury casserole type thing - ground beef, cream of mushroom soup, noodles, and about half of the spice drawer. is yummy. although next time i'll take joel's suggestion and try putting canned tomatoes in it, and maybe sauteed mushrooms if we have any to sautee. i started making it at 4. we usually end up eating dinner around 7. i was hungry. it was finished by 5, and i was still hungry, so i didn't wait till mom got back. we had asparagus, too. she keeps buying it, for some reason. but i usually cook it just enough. i hate when asparagus squooshes when you try to cut it.
and then i went to joel's piano recital. fun. only i got to wear my kilt with my docs, which was actually fun. and *then* i went to go see a movie. i was hoping for memento or shrek, but we ended up seeing the mummy returns, which was every bit as bad as i thought it would be. it's a total piece of tripe. boilerplate movie with stock characters and recycled plot devices.

(spoiler warning, for if you want to watch it and think you won't know what's going to happen after the first 5 minutes)

everyone flies off into the sunset happy, except for the two greedy people who are bickering. aww. how funny. ::rolls eyes:: and there were some funny bits, but not many. they tried too hard, for the most part. some of the acting was waaaay over the top. there was a part where the army of the madji (guys) meets the army of anubis (animations). the madji looked upset, and outnumbered. apparently they didn't hire enough extras to make up for what the animators could produce. :) and there were these pygmy things that were kinda cute, in a demented sort of way. *really* demented.

but i think i have a ride to fencing tomorrow. unless delphina decides not to go, of course, in which case i'm screwed, because not only will i not be able to fence, i won't have any way to meet up with my aunts after fencing.

oh, and the reason i posted: on the way home, just before the exit, i switched to hfs just as born slippy started. yaaaaaay. turned it alllll the way up. i like that song. apparently it's the dj's favorite song. so yeah. that made my night. i don't feel so bad about blowing $8.25 on a movie that blows goats, because i heard a good song on the way home. i'm so easily amused. (sometimes. unless you're trying to amuse me with a bad movie.)

iiii am longwinded. sorry. :)

today started off nasty, then was fun, and now i'm tired.

i got to bed at almost 2 last night, after getting back from the movie and reading all my email. and then i was woken up at 8am. i didn't have to attend church; why was i up so early, you ask? because my brother was too lazy to get up and sleep at the church (as he normally does) while my dad was at the 8.30 service. no, he wanted to go to the 11.00 service. so i had to drive dad to church at 8.20 and come back home. i got a little more sleep and then i had to drive joel to church at 9.30. i was hoping he wouldn't get out of bed so i could drag him out, or that he wouldn't get dressed in time so i could drag him to church in his boxers. rrrrgh. he just barely got time to dunk his head in the sink before we left (late), me yelling at him the whole time. he got up *half an hour early* and still wasn't ready in time. jerk. and *then*, when i got back from that, i tried to get a little more sleep before i had to get up at 11.30. 3 HOURS OF SLEEP that i needed and didn't get because joel was too much of a spoiled brat to sleep on a couch at church instead of his nice cozy bed. there was *no* reason for me to be up before noon. except for him.

i'd like him a lot more if he let me sleep in.

then, however, i went to fencing. got there a bit late, but that's okay. and i didn't fence all that much, but that's okay too. there were people there, my friends. and i got to talk to them. and marcellus says my fencing has improved a lot, although i did hit him a bit hard two times. once i got a *really* easy shot, the sort where they think 'i should probably parry, shouldn't i. except i'm dead.' it was nice to see someone who wasn't me on the receiving end. :) we went to bennigans afterwards (gods i love their potato soup) and marcellus ferried me to mom's church near the end of dinner. so nice of him. :) mom and i then went to union station to meet up with aunts becca and gretchen, and emma. that was fun, although out waitress was criminally negligent. i had flan. i loooooove flan. and my aunts (and cousin) are very cool. yay for nice relatives.

and now, i wish to sleep, but i have to take the trash out, first. i'll be at school between 2 and 3, and then more fencing, and then belphoebe's going to sew buttons on my doublet. yay, buttons. (she works for a place associated with the un, all her bosses are currently at the general assembly in costa rica. so she's bringing her sewing in for this week.) i don't like being tired.

oh and i discovered which grip/positions work best for epee... pronated when in regular guard, supinated in refused guard. doesn't work in schlager, however - i have to hold it with the quillions almost up and down (rather than two the sides, as in the previous positions) or my wrist will die.
for you non-fencers:
pronated: palm up
supinated: palm down
refused guard: off hand/leg (left, in my case) forward
regular guard: weapon arm and leg forward
i think there's actually a name for the regular guard, but i can never remember it.
