(no subject)
Jun. 13th, 2001 06:55 pmgot up early so i could have the car today, what with it being seniors' last day and all. mom wanted to leave by 9, but joel only had one class so she had to pick him up just before 9 and come back. well, the power went out at school, so he wasn't done until 9.45. d'oh.
so we finally left... without the map. and i had to go find a borders so i could buy andy bday stuffs... aaah! we photocopied some pages of emmanuel's map, which sort of worked... only borders didn't have a northern virginia map, which i needed cause i left our 3 years old one at home... so they gave me directions (sort of) to another borders in pentagon city, and i tried to go there and got HORRIBLY, HORRIBLY LOST and it all SUCKED but finally i found it, and had to pay $1.50 for parking for 10 minutes cause pentagon city is evil. but then i had a map and was able to get back to jefferson. all good stuff.
showed up at school and pretty much did nothing. sat around, looked for andy, who, being a senior, was taking an extended off-campus lunch. mr domina did mention that he was missing a rather important component of andy's project, so i was looking for him cause of that too. talked to ira and stuff and people and blah and saw the fishpond with no fish in, and i didn't wade in it although now i'm so hot and sticky that i really wish i had. i'd take a cold shower but i have to leave in 15 minutes and i'm not done writing this and it takes twice that time anyway.
andy showed up, and i sent him to cadlab. when he came back, i gave him his presents: dj shadow cd and underworld cd. and i can't for the life of me remember which cds they are... oh, well. andy seemed approving, he hugged me a lot and stepped on my feet in his enthusiasm and then left. some day, he won't be rushing off somewhere.
took shauna home, after browsing at freshfields and getting a not-frozen-enough raspberry whatever frappucino. called her mother (at five) and explained that we were leaving now and YES, she would be home before 7.30. we're in annandale, not pennsylvania. and then i put the key in the ignition and it wouldn't turn. um.... scary. thought of calling her mom back and saying we lied, we'd actually be there around nine when the tow truck finally dragged us back. luckily, we were parked around the corner from the gas station and the car guy said to turn the steering wheel to straighten out the wheels, and the key would turn. and lo and behold, it worked! good stuff.
very, very warm. must leave soon. i want that underworld cd. :P i feel like listening to trance-type stuffs and all i've got are, like, 3 mp3s. very sad. vnv nation would work too, but i don't' have any of that. i'm liking vast, what i've heard.
i think i just got a proposal from joyce. :) very amuserous. we shall have to get together some time when i'm back west.
