8.30am:
i think the suckiness of my day is affected by the music i have to hear on the way in. so far today: heard z104 (ira - that song you liked is desert rose by sting)
janna turned off a good song (the aforementioned)
sat in a frigid car
heard britney spears, nsync, and jewel
got to work later than i wanted
sat in a frigid mail room
steve was stupid (i asked him to do something a different way, and he repeated, 'i'm just doing it the way sam told me to,' starting about halfway through my first sentence. in case you hadn't noticed, sam's wrong a lot, and tends to not tell you the same thing twice in a row. i hate it when people are inflexible.)
really not getting enough sleep, and i still have 8 hours to go.

9.15am:
everyone's always hot in the mail room, and has the air conditioning and a fan running full blast. move to fucking alaska. a bunch of people here got jobs so they wouldn't have to go to school without the latest fashions. because, y'know, that would be the end of the world.
i want to quit. or slack. i'm tempted to not come back after pennsic.
need to alter a tunic for ciannait. hopefully it won't look stupid.

i probably won't quit, just cause $400 compensates for a week of work-related anger. i'll have to see how the week before pennsic goes, and how much money it looks like i'll spend while i'm there.
they got into an argument about good name colleges vs no name colleges and if it means anything. people ended up saying some reasonable things, but they came to those conclusions by talking out their collective ass. i listened to karma and drowned them out quite nicely.

american gods is quite good so far, although i feel bad about ditching titus groan (i'm barely a fourth of the way through) for it.

on the way home, every time a song i could stand came on the radio, janna changed the station. blech. listened to karma in the car, too.

i got home to find my epee on the doorstep. happy me. :) although it seems of slightly lower quality than the ones marcellus and thomas have - the design on the bell is off center, and the quillions look cast, not forged, and don't quite fit in the grooves in the bell. and the blade is in upside down but i can't loosen the pommel to fix it.
it's all good though - most of it's cosmetic problems.

turns out the discover bill i thought was overdue was actually last month's. which i paid again, and was about $100 more than what my actual bill this month was. d'oh. it'll just make my July bill that much easier, i guess.

need to sew tonight.

sometimes i wish i could be a main character. or at least that the book could be rewritten. i feel, in my wannabe-tragic-hero sort of way, like nerilka in moreta's ride. only my nerilka's story isn't interesting enough to get published or be read.

tomorrow's my birthday. dad's taking me to dinner. that's the extent of my celebration. i know what sort of thing i want to get for em, but haven't had a chance to go looking yet. :(

iiiii got ciannait to go to pennsic. :) whee.

storm coming. i can't tell if it's the wind or the rain that i'm hearing.

and no, i didn't mean for that to be a reference to american gods, but i feel silly that it took me a minute to figure out why the phrase 'storm coming' sounded familiar.

well, i finished the neckline. it doesn't look all that good, but i can deal. i need to fix the gussets (make them smaller), make the wrists narrower and sew the cuffs on, and the dress'll be done. and then i steel myself to the task of cutting my silk for the yeleks.
