Apr. 11th, 2002 04:48 pmrandomness... i forgot to turn in my field journal today. i stayed up till 4 talking to kieth last night, getting backrubs and wrestling(ish) in our wussy sort of way. he's a tease. must make sure he's not hoping for anything. (by "wrestlingish" i mean that i'd tickle him and he'd try to restrain my arm so i couldn't. he usually failed, and i was only using one arm.)
so yeah, i got 5 hours of sleep. didn't even put my retainers in so i could wake up five minutes before class and all i'd have to do would be put clothes on and walk to class. that's when i realized i was supposed to print my field notes. oops. came back, pasted everything into a word doc, and saved it to a disk. i got a weird error, though - something about a process or file that looked fairly vital to the operation of the floppy drive being not found. er....
also emailed linda my discussion notes, since i forgot to last night. turned in my housing form and took a number - i am 102. the 'seniors' number range is 2 to 1000ish. i feel pretty confident about my room. got a care package from the church, and it actually has chocolate in it this time. then i took a nap.
woke up in time to have 10 extra minutes to print my paper. i went down to throck, found a computer that didn't need rebooting, stuck in my disk, and double clicked the file. "reconfiguring word for windows 2000," it said. then it said i needed to reboot.
the thing about the lab computers is that they suck. they always freeze on the 'windows is shutting down' screen which means it always needs to scan the drives before it'll start back up. ....20 minutes later, windows has finally started up everything. i double click on the file. it gives me an error.
so i say fuck it and go to class (in which i was presenting) 10 minutes late. luckily we didn't present till halfway through class, so it wasn't too big of a deal. and monica wasn't in her office anyway, so even if i had printed it, she wouldn't have gotten it. feh. but i spent the past hour or so printing it, so i can drop it off. yes, it took me over an hour to print 26 pages. i would like a non-sucky printer.
i should go to fencing tonight, although i may not fight due to being dead tired. i'd also like to go to the hardware store. there's pvc in the scene shop, and it's definitely flexible - maybe too much. so i'm going to test different sizes, and if the shop has the kind i need, erick will give it to me. :) also he said the best way to get the stakes into the ground would be to get a similar size of metal pipe and use that to gouge out a hole first. it seems slightly sketchy, but i'll try.
of course the problem with this whole "now i know how to make a bender tent" thing is that i'll actually want to make it. which requires lots of time and money - buy and sew canvas, buy area rugs to cover the floor with, buy a very large tarp. set it up multiple times to figure out how to keep it from falling over or blowing away. figure out how to transport it.
feh. still sleepy. i would like a week off, please. i think i have homework for theater tomorrow, and i need to write in webct (and do the reading. stupid iron cage of modernity). also i would like to make soup.... maybe jodi will help me, she likes cooking.
i emailed evan to see if he can still meet with me on Saturday. hopefully that will work. also i should actually register my truck... i realized that there aren't any stickers on the windshield... i don't know exactly what they're for, or if you get them in every state, but i'm pretty sure that you can get charged for having expired and/or nonexistent stickers in va. maybe my emissions inspection counts as a temporary version?
