semagic is giving me a "decoding error" - anyone have a copy of the installer i can snag?

my new shirt will be made out of raw silk. i *knew* going to g street was a bad idea. i'm going to return the osnaberg cotton i got because i'm pretty sure my store has it cheaper. but ohhhhh g street has tables and tables of raw silk and thai silk and shantung and dupioni. so pretty. they also have a table of really fstarcking expensive silk brocades too, which are absolutely gorgeous. and all the decorator remnants are $7. i'll have to double check and see if that's better or worse than what i can get at my store. theoretically remnants for both stores are anything under 2yds, but i have a feeling a lot of the pieces are a lot smaller than that. there was a remnant in the main store of shisha fabric - that's the stuff with mirrors on it, secured with embroidery.

i was lazy at practice today. thomas was in a horrible mood and looked like he would have murdered everyone as creatively as possible, if only the past three days hadn't sapped him of motivation as well as good humor. he did snap out of it long enough to organize some melees and the team i was on, which was really fun. i kept backing into the wall, though. :P i'm not sure he realizes how much i learn from him and enjoy fighting with him. i was going to tell him, but figured it wouldn't make him feel any better and he'd just ignore it.

it was marc's birthday, so there was cake afterwards and the ritual birthday bearpit. i got to take double daggers against him, which was quite fun. must remember to fight that more often. i had to borrow daggers, though, because mine needs a new tip - i've got a schlager tip on it now, which just doesn't stay put. marcellus was going to give me one that would fit, but sunday practice was cancelled and it's supposed to thunderstorm tomorrow.

must do laundry. i have one clean work shirt.

i was craving pad thai when i got home. very annoying as there's no place around where i can get any. maybe i'll stop by the asian market tomorrow and get fish sauce and rice noodles and try making it myself.

well, i was going to go to fencing so i could trade tips with marcellus (he gets a bird blunt, i get a tip that doesn't fall off), but i decided i'm way too tired and lazy. i'll just have to get it on sunday. in the mean time, i can wash my fencing gear. no more stinky fencer attack. :(

maybe i'll be untired enough to try making the pad thai tonight, now that i have the ingredients. i have no idea what chinese radishes look like, though, so i probably don't have that. i forgot to get peanuts, but there are some not-entirely-questionable ones in the freezer, so that'll do.

argh, want sleep. and crap, i don't know vitha's address for tomorrow.

pad thai went well, especially for a first try. i'm not sure i got the right variety of fish sauce, and i didn't make enough of the sauce, and we didn't have enough peanuts, but joel said it was delicious, so i'm satisfied. not very much in the way of leftovers, but i put together an approximation of what exactly it was that i made so that joel or dad can use the rest of the noodles up. i'd never realized that it's ketchup that makes pad thai pinkish. who would have thought asian food tasted good with ketchup...

i skipped fencing (obviously, since i'm posting instead of being there) but i think getting to stay home and eat without paying was worth it. need to get vitha's phone number or email or even just address, but i don't know how to accomplish that. i sent her a message via the ffg list, but never heard back. maybe she didn't think it required a response (since i wasn't specifically asking her address).

g street sells berninas. i think i want to check them out... the only problem is that it requires me to go to g street, which is generally a dangerous thing. turns out returns are only for store credit, and you can't return anything under 3 yards. (like, say, my 2 yards of osnaburg.) so i was kind of annoyed, especially when i checked today and discovered that jo-ann has it at least 50 cents cheaper. feh. i think i'll make my new shirt out of the osnaburg, so i can wait till i have more time to concentrate and use the raw silk for a shirt with a ruffled collar that can go with the new doublet that i've decided not to make for this pennsic. :) and i remembered that i was supposed to find a way to put gussets in the gold yelek too, not just fix the buttonloops.

i always have such piddling things to talk about here.
