ooh, stealth saxophonist on the manor house balcony, very cool. it made me want to watch cowboy bebop. there should be more spontaneous music on campus.

so, the play:

i'm glad i didn't have to pay for my ticket.
not that it was *bad*, mind you. it's a rather good play, and they could have done such a good job... as it was, though, the actors never stood in their light, they spoke their lines excruciatingly slowly (and it's a 3 act play as it is!), and one of the actors sounded like he was talking through a mouthful of peanut butter. the staging was pretty good, the lighting was pretty good except that the actors didn't use it correctly and every once in a while they shone this bright fucking blue fill on the cyc. the video stuff and the music was all pretty good, though.
i cried when they described the homecoming parade and how by the midpoint of the parade route, the tag at the end of people marching for matthew shepherd was bigger than the whole rest of the parade. cried again when the little kid in front of me started sniffling. and i cried again when they started singing at the funeral, all the way through till the scene change after romaine's angels surrounded phelps.

i only had two problems with the script itself. one is when they quote from an email someone sent to the president of the college. the guy basically says that all the straight people in laramie are to blame for matt's death, just as all the germans who looked the other way during the holocaust are responsible for all of those deaths. yay, godwin's law!
the other thing that annoyed me is one of the quotes from father roger schmidt, the catholic priest in town. he says, "if you're going to do this thing, make sure you do it right. you've got to say it correct." it's repeated at least three times throughout the play, and every time i want to say, "ly! correctLY, goddammit!"

got the parking stuff straightened out, missed t&d for a gender symposium thing that i also missed (oops) and when i went to talk to erick afterwards, stepan told me that there was a page missing out of the middle of my paper. oops. :P so i had to email him that. i still need to figure out bus routes and times for my doctor's appointment. and i am very very tired, but it's so nice to be able to solo yellows on daoc. silly wussy clerics, can't hit worth crap.
