Aug. 14th, 2006 04:53 pmi just realized that there was something really weird about my gas bill from two months ago - the therms used was about 5 times what was used the following month. and when i looked at the detailed graphs, i discovered that most days had 1 or less ccf of gas usage (i have no idea what these units mean, btw), except for july 1 which had over 2000. when i called about it they said that we hadn't been billed for gas for a while because the meter was broken, and july 1 was they day they fixed it and charged us for all the past usage.
now, if it had been broken for 4 or 5 months, that would be one thing. and it may very well have been. however, we moved in on may 7. so either they estimated wrong, or they estimated usage over a period of time when we weren't in the unit.
i talked to the "advanced" customer service for a while about this and they agreed to send me a revised bill with more realistic usage, but i still feel vaguely unsatisfied.
i have a feeling that the customer service reps aren't allowed to come out and say that their company made an error. so i can't tell if i just talked them into submission or if they really did realize that i'm right about this.
and dammit, it is very important that they understand i am right. not knowing if i really convinced them is going to nag at me for days, i suspect.
