(no subject)

i'm back! and i have a cold. koff koff sniffle and all that. i had *sooo* much fun! got to meet cool people, and kill people, and wear my spiffy new clothes. when i authorized, i never got tested to see if i would call draw cuts cause the provost (read: really good fighter) who ushered (read: fought me) couldn't get one in on me! and the free scholars/gold scarves (read: only slightly less good than the provosts, but younger and faster) teased me after the town battle. which is good, cause they only make fun of people they like and respect. *aaand*.... in the 5 man melee, i fought alejandro, who's a really really good free scholar, and i didn't die right away! that right there made my whole week. and it's on tape, too. :)
so yeah, i had lots of fun. nothing like killing lots of people to temporarily get rid of a cold. although i lost a contact on tuesday, so i had to wear my glasses for the rest of the week, which really sucked, but i still did okay. and now that i'm home, i'm *clean*! it's a very interesting feeling. :) i have two big blisters, one on each big toe. grr. and i've got a fair amount of bruises, and my left thigh and right hamstring hurts like anything. along with my right forearm.

i got a schlager! *my* schlager! (schlager = type of rapier = long pointy thing to poke people with.) it's really pretty. it's also $225, which is seizure inducing but actually a good price. why do i have to pick the expensive hobbies? bah. and i got new gloves, which i'll need to run through the washer with cheap fabric softener to shrink a little - they're deerskin, so they'll conform to my hands. and i got a knife that's actually a leaf necklace pendant, and another dagger, and an overmask hood. now i need to get a mask. and an epee. oh, and i got a lantern the same night i got my schlager, and hung it on the quillions and went around tellling people that i'd bought myself a new lantern hanger. i also got a carved wooden box, slightly bigger than a tarot deck, which i put in my leine sleeve. i got lots of compliments on my leine. i'm proud o' meself. :)

i have my blue scarf! and a new sword! isn't it spiffy? now i just have to learn how to use my new sword, cause schlager is different from epee, which is all i've learned so far. although there was a schlager-only novice tourney (cause lots of kingdoms are schlager only, including an tir, which is where lewis and clark is) and five of us atlantians went in double dagger, and while i just gave people a run for their money and died well, some of us were winning. and all of us were making people a bit worried, in the sense of "i've got a big long schlager and all this chick has is two daggers, and she doesn't seem to be worried at all. what does she know that i don't?" :) it was verra verra fun.

and now i need to eat before i start gnawing on the keyboard.

did andy fall off the face of the earth while i was gone? no journal entries, i called last night around 10 and didn't get an answer... i got back from fencing and was told he'd called, but when i called back i *still* didn't get an answer... i have a phone number for his mother but i'm not sure it's right. and now i have to go and i still haven't talked to him.
