well, i haven't done much. i went to the big intro-type lecture for social policy, which i would really rather not have to take. signed up for tutorial periods. then went to another meeting with the same person (susan deeley) to sign up for another tutorial for the whatchamafuckit class about the volunteer stuff we're doing. now, there are 26 people in the class. 24 of us are from lc. she had scheduled one of the two tutorial choices for tuesday noonish, which is when we have our theater screenings. the whole left hand/right hand dichotomy is really starting to annoy me. and of course she had trouble scheduling the tutorials at all because people had to go to their volunteer places. which she suggested we cut down on, which would mean that we weren't putting in enough hours for the class *which would be her own damn fault*. grr. and then i left apparently right before clayton gave out our weekly allowance. so i'll have to scrimp and save until monday, and hope he goes to our classes with us. i think he does, so it shouldn't be a problem. feeding myself over the weekend will be, though.
went to the library and turned in my survey, and was granted 50 free pages of black and white printing. (happy me!) went to the qm and had lunch (mm, cafeteria food) and grinned at all the goths, then signed up to be a member and got that neat little hole punch in the appropriate place on my matric card.
went to the volunteer centre to try to find some place interesting to volunteer. i found *one* place remotely related to sexual minorities, and i might not be able to work there cause they have requred meetings on wednesday during my history class. grr. i really don't want to do the social policy class.
anyway, i left there and went to the fabric store the next floor down of the building, where they have some *gorgeous* raw silks, as well as some nice pure linen and pure cotton stuffs, but i couldn't think of anything offhand to make it out of, so i didn't get it. i need to decide what i'll line the lavender with to make it look more notpink - i think i want something similar in color, but i don't know if i want it bluer or redder.
went in all the overpriced clothing shops on buchanan street, and found an absolutely gorgeous strappy floor length silver origami silk (it's kinda crinkly) dress - princess seams, 7 panels with the front one twice as wide, notch in the center front of the neckline, zipper down the side seam. all but the side seams had these little tucks in them at the waist, with extra fabric to make the skirt fuller. feather boning in the front and sides and short pieces in the back - i think it covered the shoulderblades or something. and it had a crinoline from about knee height to floor. and it was £225. so i took it off the rack put it on, admired myself in the mirror, and promptly took it off and sat in the dressing room writing down how it was put together. oh, it's so gorgeous....
ahem. anyway. then i went to the mall, where there was this huge department store that had a fabric department. they had some nice stuff as well - really soft cotton lawn, and poplin, and things like that. nosed around in jewelry stores looking for a mommypresent, and finally found one - it's not as high quality as i would have liked, but i'm not as highly moneyed, so it worked.
got 50 gold bangle bracelets (gypsy garb) for about $5 at claires while i was in the mall. :) and got all the necessary info on that scarf that i love so much at accessorize - if they don't have a pic online, i'll photograph the damn thing, cause there's another place online where you can post info/pics about fabric that you're looking for and everyone else who frequents the page will keep an eye out and give hints.
and yesterday i slept in and did nothing, and watched sliding doors (neato idea, decent movie with a happysappy ending; and i didn't realize it was set in london. i was like, hey, i recognize that underground sign!) and trainspotting (weeird.... and gary looks like ewan mcgregor, although it might just be the haircut and the body type) and went to bed around 1.30 after trying to call andy and getting a busy signal. :(
and woke up at 2.30. not 1 hour later, 13. that was fun. :) but i was sicker; i've developed a cough and am definitely stuffed up. had kraft dinner, which, i reiterate, is *definitely* better in the states. did some laundry! i'm so smart! and we had lots and lots of chinese food for dinner. there wasn't enough lemon chicken. but there were prawn crackers - those puffed rice things that look like salted styrofoam packing material. mmm...
i had almost been convinced to go on a pub crawl with nina and meljo tonight, but all my pants were still damp, so here i am. ::sigh:: i needed to pack anyway, and it's cold today, so going out would be stupid.
watching movies makes me miss andy. sitting in a chair by myself (even one next to a fakefireplace) doesn't come close to cuddling on andy's arrange-a-couch.
i would just like to mention: remember what the monty python boys always say - nobody expects the spanish inquisition!
