movie - dangerous beauty

'This past spring at Jehan's Rapier Academy one woman was fencing schlager in the list (cord challenge for provost, I believe). During one of the exchanges she whipped off her skirt (to use as a cloak) and revealed her cotton bloomers underneath. The crowd went wild!'

'Selene, who spent one very entertaining tourney flipping up kilts with the
tip of her sword'

woo*hoo*!

well, i finally made it to the library, so instead of spending hours on end playing solitaire, i've been spending hours on end reading books about travelers and gypsies. most of which are either out of period for what i want (although duncan williamson's autobiography was pretty neat - he was an early 20th century scottish traveller) or are myth and urban legend reported as fact with flimsy reasons for why it's true. ::sigh:: i've got six more books to read, and then i'll have exhausted all the u. glasgow gypsy books... well, those in the anthro section. i still have history and english. :) and of course the public libraries. i don't think i'm going to lack for reading material.

finally got in touch with the women's library / lesbian resource centre where i'll be doing my internship... i have to go back on wednesday to schedule and figure out exactly what i want to do. and they invited me to drop in whenever i was having a crappy day. :) good people. they've got a young lesbian support group (ie under 25s) that sounds like they're doing really cool stuff... self-poetry and no-look portraits were on display.

other than that and class (i would like to say that i disagree a lot with prof. broadie, our philosophy professor (and a published one at that) and it's going to make the class a bit annoying, because he's presenting the philosophies of these people as *right* not just historical. and i think they're wrong.) i haven't been getting out much. spent a bit talking to people on my hall, but other than that i'm sleeping. lots.
i get the feeling i'll be surviving on pasta and soup for the next few months.
