i've seen many of my friends go too quickly from devastatingly unhappy to deliriously happy. and while i'm happy that they've found their joy, it hurts because i know that eventually - and in most cases sooner rather than later - they're going to crash, hard. when you go from one extreme to the other like that, you don't usually come down easily. if it was just that the shiny wore off of their happiness, that would be okay. but you know "the higher the leap.... i say the harder the ground."
