the good news is, i don't have a broken toe.

the bad news is, in a fight between a cafeteria table and my boot, my boot only sort of wins.
we were setting up the tables after fencing (we practice in an elementary school cafeteria) and i got the one with a sticky wheel. instead of unfolding, it falls over. so it fell over and i felt dumb. then i realized that a corner of the table had broken off. then i realized that there was a gouge torn in the toe of my boot.

boy am i glad i'm wearing steel toes. if i hadn't, the table would be intact and i'd be in the hospital. however, now i have to get epoxy and glue the pieces back together. i love these boots and really can't afford new ones. especially as it took so long to break these in.

the rest of fencing was lots of fun. did a couple of fights, then 5 man melees, then bear pit. i fought aramand and actually felt the need to stop using my arm when i took his - it's a chivalry thing, but i don't unless i have a skill advantage over someone, which i usually don't. if we're the same skill level, matching lost limbs is a tossup for me.

bennigan's afterwards was fun. kyneburh apparently has a few spare helms lying around that she's willing to give us so we can be armored for a siege weaponry team. ooooo. i'd get to play with crossbows and ballistas and trebuchets, and that would make me very very happy. helms are very expensive. i would love to just be given one.
and if things are going to be falling into my lap, i'd like another schlager, epee, and dagger, a bender tent, lots and lots of pretty fabric, and a cute naked boy - and hell, a cute naked girl while i'm at it.

er, right, anyway.. i made stroganoff for dinner, but we didn't have any mushrooms so i put in half a can of cream of mushroom soup and a little less sour cream. and a bunch of spices - ginger, paprika, mustard, salt, pepper, cayenne, thyme. and garlic. it was a little strange with spinach noodles (all i could find) but still good. and ragnar was 40 minutes later than he'd said he would be, so i even had time to eat it.

this morning wasn't happy. i remembered that dad asked me if i answered the phone if it rang in the morning (i do) and mentioned that the school would probably call to confirm that joel's allowed to ride a different bus (the fuck? i'm so glad i went to tj), but didn't remember anything else. turns out that i did exactly what he told me not to - answered the phone and gave them his work number. he wasn't at his normal office, and i was supposed to let it ring and have them leave a message. they called work, he obviously wasn't there, and they never called back. he came home early figuring that something would go wrong, and sure enough joel showed up at home because they wouldn't let him switch busses. so dad had to take him to his orthodontist appointment.

and i feel like i have a lymph infection or something - two bumps on the back right side of my neck, just above the hairline, one of which hurts to touch at all. that was the first thing that swelled when i had mono, so i know it's lymph glands. suck.

now i am very tired. must remember to get epoxy and fix shoe, and sew buttons on doublet. bah.
