i think someone should (if it hasn't been done already) create a program that models gardens. you can model the layout of the garden and what flowers go where, and then view it, selecting for the time of year. it would warn you if you were about to put something that needs full sunlight under a tree, and you could select it to show only annuals or perennials. and you could flag certain parts of the garden as having a certain type of soil, and the program would give you a list of the flowers that do well in that soil.

anyway, that was my random thought of the day. going to the store any minute now, and then i'll shower and sit around for a few more hours before going to bed.

took me forever to get out of bed today, but i made it. i think i left my brain at home, though - forgot to clock out for lunch. i had to close at work today, so i was there till 9.40, and then i discovered that, because it had been raining, the kittens who live in the sewer were out in the parking lot attempting to dry off. half an hour later, i'd managed to be nonthreatening enough to pick up and pet one of the kittens. their mom was a medium sized cat with green eyes who looked at me distrustfully but didn't actually tell me to go away. the kittens were both still fuzzy. one was grey with white feet and one was black. the grey one was too wary to let me touch him, but the black one was either not scared of me or too confused to run away. i ended up holding him on my lap and petting him. he made little mewling noises and shivered, but that was it. i hope i warmed him up a little. i made sure that the kitten was facing the sewer (so he could see the escape route) and that i wasn't between him and his mother, so i hope he was reassured. SO CUTE.

i'm not sure what time i have to work tomorrow, but i think it's 10. next week i'm not working at all on wednesday and thursday, but i am working sunday. argh! is "i can't work sunday, and i can't work after five on wednesday and thursday" so hard to understand? need to tell mary ellen about pennsic by the 26th, which means i need to know when i'm leaving.

also, i need to make clothing: slops/trunkhose to fight in, another fencing shirt, another doublet, and redo the loops on my lavender/gold yelek. i'm hoping to find large black loop tape. that would make it a lot easier. also i need a punch tester, so i can figure out the minimum needed to make my doublet puncture proof.

also i spent $1.06 buying $66 worth of bridal buttons. for some reason they're on a 5 cards for a dollar clearance sale. the buttons i really liked weren't on sale, but i figured i should buy these just on principle. they're gold and diamond cut glass. i'm sure i'll find something to put them on, or someone to sell them to.

also i should probably note that if i'm acting modest, i'm most likely lying.
