so i took a nap around 6.30 last night, and was woken up at 8 for dinner. i went back to sleep immediately afterwards, woke up at midnight so i could actually get ready to go to bed, slept until 7am, and kept resetting my alarm for an hour later every time it went off, until i got up at 11 and took a shower.

god i love sleeping. :)

now i'm catching up on livejournal, or i would if i could get pages to load, and then hopefully vitha will stop by. and also hopefully i'll get some sewing stuff done.

so i told mom i'd be able to go on break starting around 5.30. at 6, when she hadn't showed up, i called. the line was busy. i called at regular intervals for the next half hour and the line was busy the whole time. dad finally showed up at 6.30 after having waited outside for 10 minutes. first of all, we rarely use the phone, and rarely for long calls. second, what the hell kind of good is waiting outside going to do? i can't see outside, i'm supposed to be concentrating on customers. and there's no way i'm going to fritter away my break time standing outside waiting for my ride to get here. argh. i, like shauna, hate having to rely on other people for transportation.
apparently mom forgot how to use simple electrical appliances while she was on iona: you have to turn the cordless phone off when you're done with it, otherwise anyone calling gets a busy signal. there were other problems as well: mom got a nail in her tire, so dinner wasn't ready till about 6, and the cover on the phone box outside seems to have blown off in the storm, so there may be something rusted there.

dinner was good, though - some sort of beef, sautéed with onions and portobellos, served cold with tomato and cucumber and dill and i think some yogurt, and pita bread.
and i got to leave 10 minutes earlier than usual because we closed exactly at 9 instead of having to wait on customers to leave.

there's a bolt of $1.88 fabric that i've had my eye on... i need to make a choli tonight so i can see how much fabric it takes, and then i'll buy enough to make another one. :) the sale ends tomorrow - it's currently $1.41 a yard. turquoise shot cotton fabric, with the other threads being some sort of magenta. it's nifty. also i've been looking at the sewing machines and can't for the life of me tell the difference between some of these models. they're all supposed to be heavy duty, which is useful. so many things i want - new computer and printer and monitor and keyboard, and sewing machine and serger... i should have more money.

theoretically joel's going to help me sew tonight - hold fabric down while i cut and stuff like that. wish me luck.
