Feb. 16th, 2003 03:32 pmfencing sucked. andre never showed up to unlock our stuff so we did footwork for a while, then sat around hoping he'd respond to his pager, then did range drills with the dowel chloe's borrowing, babbled some more, and left. feh. need to remember to pester the secretary for my own key tomorrow.
yesterday was fun, i hung lights for about 5 hours. we were supposed to hang lights for 7 hours and do it again today, but we finished way early. got everything hung and circuited (and had pizza) and rough focused, and they were working on patching it all into the board when we decided we were done.
i hemmed my green dress in the costume shop... it was remarkably easy. despite the fact that i've never used these machines before i got it threaded correctly on the second try, with the right color thread and everything. and! they have a serger! which i figured out how to use correctly! that make the hemming so much easier, since i didn't have to turn the raw edge under - it would have required some fiddly ironing, as taffeta doesn't like folding.
after that i stopped by the mage game, which was rather interesting. made a rather cruel comment to jeff which i couldn't make myself take back because it's kinda true. sent him an email apologizing when i got home. trimmed the crinoline and mended the shoulderstrap of the dress while i was sitting there. had pizza again for dinner. mm, pizza.
i got a lot of compliments on the dress at casino night. it was actually fun, although that could probably be attributed to the pre-funking. david was dressed as a sexy goth boy. woo. that flicker of brain turning off in surprise was amusing. i stayed away from the dance part of casino night on hearing a little of the music, and wandered around in the casino part. they had mark duntley (the school's chaplain) dealing blackjack. i was amused. jeff was also dealing blackjack, and it's a good thing we were playing for monopoly money or the house would have taken him out back and had him shot a long time ago. also i think he was stacking the deck. :) i didn't really play myself, but i did bet on amelia. won a lot too. the only hand i played was the very last hand, when jeff put all the table's money in the middle and said "closest to 21 wins this". i got blackjack.
stayed for the raffle, which was dumb, because other than the dvd player, the blender, and the x box, it was all just shit tons of crappy prizes. lunch with the president of the college, for example, and free haircuts.
came back home, talked to my poor sick stark, and went to sleep. kept waking up, which was rather annoying. and now fencing was a bust and i don't know where keith's having his demon game. i do want to go to yoga at 5.30, though, so if you see me online (and not idle or away) between 5 and 5.20, remind me.
i'm sleepy and it's rainy and i couldn't get all my eyeliner off from last night. i want a cat and a fireplace. and a stark. and tea.
and a small island nation.
