so, given that life under saddam hussein wasn't particularly peaceful (i have no reason to doubt the reports of horrifying torture he inflicts on his people), the argument that this war will bring peace to the iraqis kindof makes sense. the only problem is, doesn't the us have a habit of installing puppet governments that end up not being much better than the dictators they replace? i'm pretty sure it's happened at least once in south america.

lighting project went okay, although i fucked up the cues and we didn't focus very well. glen's group couldn't be here today, which everyone knew. however, the people who weren't there took all the gels, the light cues, and the object being lit with them. so glen had about 5 minutes to create a new performance. he decided to light us, and the people who pissed him off got specials, right in the face.

we're supposed to be watching videos of dadaist plays in drama today. i wonder if anyone will stay or if they're all planning to walk out. people in the theater department aren't particularly interested in protesting, from what i've seen. i'm not going to the rally downtown, because i don't really know how to stay safe at a protest and i don't think it will make much difference anyway, but if enough people walk out, i will too. not out of sheep-ness but because it's kind of pointless to try to hold class if there are only two people there.

feh. war. i hope all the people comparing this to how hitler got his start turn out to be wacko doomsayers, but i wouldn't bet on it. well, i wouldn't bet on either side, really.
