silly me went to the section of london referred to as 'little india', went to a kebab store for lunch and expected to get bland british curry. as opposed to spicy indian curry. it was really good - lamb curry and some naan, just spicy enough that my nose was running a little at the end of the meal. it was a pretty good price, too - 2 pieces of naan (and i had to wait for my meal cause they were cooking - it's takeout too, but they pulled my bread out of the oven as i watched), a dish of lamb curry (half size, but i'm still full), and a bowl of cucumber type sauce. for afterwards when your mouth is burning. and a small plate of lettuce and onions, but i ignored that. and a carafe of water on each table. it cost 4£, which is about 6$. i'd say that's pretty good.
and now i have to pee, so i'm trying to find some big store where they can't tell if you're a customer or not, with bathrooms. cause otherwise i'll have to wait until i go to the pub for the session (session = musicians getting together and jamming. celtic, in this case.), which doesn't start till 9. although i'm sure i'll head over there before then.
my shoes broke my feet in enough that i got tiny blisters on one heel and a rubbed raw patch on both. boo. meaning i won't go clubbing. oh, well. it's all good - i would have had to go in non-clubbing clothes cause i didn't feel like either wearing them or carrying them all day.
tomorrow tina and i go see the rsc - complete works. apparently at the box office they're referred to as the 'little willies'. :) i wonder if the title is self-imposed? i wouldn't put it past them. and i have my complete works script with me, so i can get it signed! and see if they remember the highschoolers (one of whose yearbooks they signed) at their kencen millennium musical show.
and now i'm bored, so i'm in an internet cafe again. ::sigh::
oh! the reason i went to little india was to get saree fabric. i realized that i didn't know enough about period indian garb to actually buy any, but i did manage to leave with 7 yards of grey-lavender raw silk, for $10 a yard. not bad, and the fabric is *gorgeous*. i got one of the girls in the shop to show me how to wrap it. she seemed very amused. also, i bought a head scarf at another shop and the guy looked at me and was like, 'you know what that is, right?' he was a bit confused cause most people come in and buy a dress without a scarf. and here i am just buying the scarf.
and when i asked people about patterns, i couldn't for the life of me get them to tell me anything about the design of the clothing, just the designs on the fabric. ::sigh::
so yeah. off to see if i can d/l icq without making the puter restart. :)
