i rented the sixth sense. i feel much better now, although i really wish i'd seen it without knowing the ending. also i drank half a bottle of lambic. mmm, good stuff.

the only problem is that now i really need a cuddle.

thanks to nighthawk and voodoolimbo for the textual cuddles. and rachel too. :)

practically half the store went on clearance today, and then went on sale. so i bought 8 yards of blue cotton voile sari fabric and 4 yards of the same in white. i'm trying to figure out how to wrap a dravidian sari. i can do the modern sari, but the older version has two parts: the veshti is wrapped around the waist like a towel and the mundanai covers the torso some way or another. i haven't found anything on the net describing it - in modern saris the mundanai is just the last bit of the sari wrapped from left hip, under right arm, and over left shoulder. the bit that goes over the shoulder is called the palla. but i have no idea how it's done in a dravidian sari, because the mundanai is a separate piece.

i'd like to get my pants pinned down today and random crap thrown in the chest preparatory to actually packing it. mom gets here at 11.

voodoolimbo: why in hell do you need spf 75 sunblock? you're *black*. it's supposed to be built in.
(yes, yes, lady ann glows in the dark. but still.)

yesterday not having music got to be too much for me and i went to circuit city. i got a cd/mp3 player, which i might exchange for the cd/mp3 rio volt that displays id3 tags, because just seeing numbers isn't very helpful. do you make "albums" simply by putting files into folders?

i also got a cd alarm clock. it isn't a travel version, which sucks, but other than that it's damn cool. and it plays my run lola run soundtrack which has skipped like hell on every other player i've put it in. that i'm keeping. it was $50, the cd/mp3 player was $40 and the rio volt was on sale for $80, if i remember correctly.

mom is most likely waiting in the customs line even as i type. i can feel my car privileges slipping away already.

well, mother has reclaimed the car, which is apparently in need of immediate repairs. i don't know if i can pick up the sewing machine sleeve from vitha tomorrow, and if i can't, i don't get to go to krispy kreme with andy. i wonder what else i'll have to cancel: last minute panicked sewing at annejke's? bright hills fencing? getting my gear to pennsic? going to marrakesh with ali? most likely all of the above.

welcome home, mom.
